So on Christmas Eve we got a call that Briella had won a random drawing we had entered her name in the day before at a furniture store. This is what she won...

Most of the toys were a little random. Briella's favorite was a stuffed superman that gave her laughs all afternoon.

Just our Family Christmas

On December 23rd, Kevin got off work early and we had our first family Christmas with Briella. We started lots of fun family traditions and had a wonderful evening together. Briella was super excited and all decked out of course.

She actually did pretty well unwrapping. She got socks, a toy manger scene (she chewed on baby Jesus all night), and a ride and stride.

Usually Kev and I forgo gifts and just give each other candy stashes, but we decided to give gifts this year. I got to surprise Kevin with a guitar that he's wanted for years. Later we watched the Nativity and made a birthday cake for Jesus. It was a wonderful 1st Christmas with Briella.

Birthday Parties

On the 12th both Reid and I celebrated our birthdays. Reid had a camouflage party. Needless to say we took it to the extreme.

Both of the boys are great with Briella and love making her laugh. Here she is just hanging with them as they tear into the Deer Hunter set my mom got them. Then Dylan let Briella play with the tree he assembled. Such sweethearts.

Briella helped mommy open her presents. Had to get some practice in before Christmas.

And here she is soooo happy and proud of herself for standing up on her own. (We'll let her pretend the couch wasn't helping).

That's about it for now.

Making Christmas Cookies and Random Pictures

On Saturday we had a cookie making party. Briella helped too!

Actually, Kevin did most of the work. I got a little frustrated when all my cookies stuck to the table no matter how much flour so I just stuck to decorating.

First we read "The Legend of the Christmas Tree"; a great book that tells about how we started celebrating Christmas with trees and how it started out as a way to teach children about Jesus.

Thanksgiving

Ok, so this is going to go backwards.... On Saturday we had had Thanksgiving with Kevin's side of the family in Mauston. Briella got to play with her second cousins Angelica and Chloe.
On Friday night we celebrated with my family in La Crosse.

On Thursday we hung around home and had dinner at the La Crosse Community Dinner.

A Pumpkinny Day

On Wednesday, we had a dall full of pumpkins. My friend Kristen came over and we carved pumpkins and baked pumpkin seeds. Briella wasn't too thrilled with it. I though she might like the goo, but she wasn't a fan.Actually this picture was taken later in the day. You have to love when you capture faces like this.She had fun though getting to hang out with the girls.Kristen and her pumpkin. She is taking this photo class and showed me how to do this cool effect with the camera that lets only one color come through.Our pumpkins all done!!Where's Briella???Later we went to our Bible Study group. We decided to have a dress up night.

At the Farm

Tim and Natalie invited us all to a wonderful eveing at Tim's farm. Briella got all decked out in her overalls.

Briella has these huge beautiful blue eyes and this picture seemed to capture them great.Isn't this funny looking? I cam around the corner after teaching piano to see Briella sitting up here all by herself (with daddy hiding behind the couch holding on tight).

Again, I just like this one because of her eyes.

We tried to get a video of her laughing. On a scale of 1 - 10 of how much she can laugh this is about a 6, but at least you get the idea.

I was bored this morning and decided to take some fun pictures of Briella using a blanket as a backdrop. She has so many cute hats, so all the pictures were about the same only switching hats. I couldn't get her to smile for the life of me. I suppose I wouldn't like sitting all scrunched up in a basket either. Here are my favorites though.

Our first experience with sweet potatoes. Most really did get in her mouth. It's just that her hands also went into her mouth... and then everywhere else.
Briella can grab her feet now, something mommy wishes she could also do.

The August Rush

Well August has rushed by us! Briella has been growing by leaps and bounds. She is 4 months old now. Some of her new tricks are laughing, playing with toys by herself, great head control, and rolling over. This is her in her exersaucer. She looks so small in it and is completel in awe at all the toys on it.

Our friend Molly had a Greek night. We enjoyed making and eating some great food. Here is Briella and daddy and our good friends Aaron and Joy.

We took a trip to Kansas City to visit the House of Prayer and see our friends the Hartmans. We stayed in a hotel in Des Moines on the first night. Briella got to go swimming for the first time. She loved it!

But swimming is sure tiring!

We went to KC to go to the IHOP (International House of Prayer) but Kevin got a little confused.
